Council gives nod for Vice-Principal

The American College Governing Council meeting was held here on Monday with eight of the 14 members participating. It authorised Vice-Principal P. R. Anbu Durai to function as Principal in-charge and secretary.

Addressing a press conference, the Vice-Principal said that the council also resolved to extend the tenure for him by two years. Similarly, the tenure of bursar Premkumar Immanuel has been extended by another two years.

He confirmed that the college had not violated the court order as the stay order which was in operation against convening the Governing Council was not extended beyond November 24, 2010, and hence the meeting was held. The decisions taken at the meeting would end the uncertainty prevailing on the campus for more than two years, he hoped.

Prof. Anbu Durai also maintained that this was an interim arrangement and a writ petition filed by Prof. Chinniraj Joseph Jaikumar had been admitted by the High Court Bench here for hearing.
