The college was 'closed until further announcement' on 10th December 2010 by Dr. P.R. Anbudurai, Principal-in-charge and Secretary. Same day the bishop's appointee Mr. Mohantook over college by force and later he declared that the college is reopening on 5th Jan 2011.
3 categories of students:
Out of 3400 students only about 300 students (category 1 students) responded to Mr. Mohan's call. Rest of the student stayed home fearing thugs implanted by the bishop's group and are still expecting that the college would return to normalcy, sometime or the other. Among these remaining 3100 students about 200 students took courage, came to college and were attending classes taken by agitating faculty 'under the tree' (category 2 students) . These are the students who went on a hunger strike and still are fighting against the 'vandalisation of the college' by bishop's group. Finally, about 2800 students have absolutely stayed away from college, expecting the college to return to normalcy (category 3 students).
Course work incomplete:
Since most of the faculty members (>80%) were agitating and staying away, regular classes were NOT conducted for students who are attending classes. More than 280 courses including the language classes were NOT met for these (category 1) students.
Much of the Theory courses and Practical Courses were NOT met. Including much of the major courses, none of the language courses (Tamil, English, French, Hindi and Japanese), Life skill courses and Non Major Elective course were met, so far (for all the 3 categories of students).
At this juncture the selfish bishop's group, in order to establish that they are 'running the college' smoothly, announced that the End of Semester would be conducted from 25th April 2011. This they do in order to threaten, intimidate and create a sense of fear among the students who are staying away from the college.
When the entire student community are NOT attending classes and when all the courses were NOT met, how can the examinations be conducted?
Appeal to authorities:
The JDCE, DCE Offices and the Higher Education department and. Madurai Kamaraj University (to which the college is affiliated) should intervene and stop this 'arrogant act' of the illegal bishop group conducting Examinations.
